LOCKWOOD & CO: SECURING THE COLD MAIDEN’S BONES

My illustration is based on the Cold Maiden scene at the abandoned wharf, Chapter 12 from the book, Lockwood & Co: The Whispering Skull, by the awesomely inspiring @jonathan.stroud

So I've been working on this fan art piece on and off for almost a year and half.

I wanted to take my time and do my best to stay true to the world that Jonathan Stroud has created, so many sketches and environment research was done to help me form that.
I did much work to capture the heartbeat, as it were, of this scene, from the facial expression and lighting, to character posing and mood composition.

It's been a long process with a whole lot of experimenting to get the details drawn, from the mood and even facial hints of the ghosts' backstory, to the details of the characters (yes those are iron chains and salt canister bombs) I knew that the scene would be challenging, as the story itself has emotional layers and gives much detail of the ghost hunting characters. If you scroll down you'll see not onl
