------I Expect You to Die 2------ Operation Eavesdrop Props
The Fabricator's workshop level is packed full of easter eggs from the previous IEYTD game, as well as half finished inventions and notes everywhere to help establish the absent minded artist/inventor character.
Here's the final concepts I drew for The Fabricator's desk, full of hidden compartments and cubby holes to hide her experiments.
My initial sketches for the workshop desk, exploring a variety of ways to start the desk as a simple shape and have it gradually unfold into a larger piece with seemingly endless hidden compartments
Once the desk concept was finalized and approved, I did a lot of concept sketches to figure out where to hide various pieces of important tech the player needs to find when playing the level as they explore the desk to discover its secrets
Early concept of the mask found in the workshop that the Fabricator is making for John Juniper that will let him disguise himself as various other people
Time was tight when whiteboxing this level in engine so, in order to get the notes and blueprints all over the walls into the game, I got into Unity and helped the team prop out the level, creating post-it notes, drawings and blueprints to stick all over
Here are a couple of the custom notes I sketched out to use in the level, including notes on the Fabricator's next experiments and lore hints to show her rivalry with IEYTD's other inventor character, Solaris (creator of the space station in IEYTD 1)
I sketched this blueprint of the crossbow bear from IEYTD 1 to put on the wall to indicate that while Solaris had designed the original robot arm crossbow turret, The Fabricator had designed the bear around it :)
