To get that many people in one level at once the characters had to be fairly simple 3D shapes, so I sketched a lot of concepts for how to keep the overall shape simple but still allow personality, expression, and player customization with color choices, costumes and accessories.

Hand drawn character sketches, trying low polycount shapes while also showing how we can leave room for a bit of player customizations.

Some more sketches I drew that kept the 3D shapes needed mostly lower poly while still allowing for a variety of character possibilities.

A few more sketches I drew, exploring more uinque player avatar styles and possibilities.

One last set of electronics themed avatar sketches where I worked to keep the character models really boxy in a natural way, so this exploration set was all about computers, toasters, TVs, etc.
